Some journeys begin with a roadmap, others with a single spark of inspiration. Mine started in the most unexpected place—on my grandmother’s lap, listening to her stories. She wasn’t formally educated, but she carried the wisdom of the world. Her words painted vivid images, her voice held us spellbound, and without realising it, she instilled in me a deep love for storytelling. That love only grew stronger. I was naturally drawn to stories—whether in books, through people, or in my own experiences. Reading became my escape, and travelling to different countries exposed me to cultures, perspectives, and ideas that challenged my worldview. The more I listened, the more I realised that every person carries a story worth sharing. Then came the moment that changed everything. The TEDx Spark in New Zealand I still remember my first experience with TEDx—as a volunteer at TEDxWellington in New Zealand. It wasn’t just an event; it was a movement. Ideas filled the air like electricity, and strangers connected over shared passions. Watching speakers take the stage, transforming personal experiences into universal truths, was mesmerising. I was hooked. Right then, I knew—I would one day organise a TEDx of my own. Fast forward a few years, and that dream took shape in Goa with TEDxMargao on June 30, 2024.The journey of bringing an idea to life, curating speakers, building a team, and finally seeing it unfold successfully—it’s a feeling I can never quite put into words. And now, we are gearing up for TEDxPanaji, happening in just a few months! Why Do I Do This? Organising a TEDx event is not easy. It’s hours of planning, endless emails, sleepless nights, and all of it—without any monetary rewards. So why do I do it? Because nothing compares to the moment when a speaker steps onto that red dot, nervous but ready, and shares an idea that has the potential to change someone’s life. Nothing compares to seeing an audience member walk away, eyes shining with newfound inspiration. The real magic of TEDx lies in collaborations. It’s in the people who come together—volunteers, speakers, partners, and attendees—each bringing their passion to create something bigger than themselves. The beauty of TEDx is that it’s not about one person’s vision; it’s about a collective dream of spreading ideas that matter. Beyond TEDx: Empowering Local Voices My journey didn’t stop at TEDx. I founded PechaKucha Goa in October 2018, another storytelling platform that gives people a space to share their ideas in a unique and engaging format. Because at the core of everything I do, my mission remains the same: “Empowering Local Voices and Artists.” Every region has untold stories, unheard voices, and ideas waiting to take flight. Through TEDx and PechaKucha, I hope to create platforms where these voices can find their audience, where ideas can spark change, and where people can connect in ways they never imagined. As we count down the days to TEDxPanaji, I’m reminded of why I chose this path. It’s not for fame, money, or recognition. It’s for the stories, the people, and the belief that ideas, when shared, have the power to shape the world. And that is why I’m on the TEDx journey as an organiser. Because stories matter. Ideas matter. And bringing them to life is worth every single second.
